How Is the Cost of Each Flight Lesson Calculated?

At Skybound Aviation, there are two primary hourly rates:

Aircraft: $180–$225 per hour, depending on the aircraft

Flight Instructor: $60 per hour

You are charged based on the actual amount of time you use each.

Example Lesson

Suppose you schedule a 2.5-hour lesson and:

Spend 1.7 hours in a Warrior at $195/hour

Spend 2.1 hours with your instructor at $60/hour

Your aircraft cost would be:

1.7 × $195 = $331.50

Your instructor cost would be:

2.1 × $60 = $126.00

Total lesson cost: $457.50

The instructor time and aircraft time do not necessarily match. Your lesson may include time on the ground before or after the flight for briefings, instruction, preparation, and review.

Because every lesson is different, the exact cost will depend on how much time you spend in the aircraft and how much time you spend with your instructor.

Ultimately, one of the best ways to reduce the total cost of flight training isn't simply finding the lowest hourly rate. It's training consistently, staying engaged between lessons, and choosing a flight school that gives you the resources and availability to keep progressing.
