STEP 04
ONLINE GROUND SCHOOL
Online ground school allows you to save money by learning the basic knowledge at home instead of paying an instructor by the hour to teach you the basics. This allows your instructor to focus on growing your basic knowledge, answering questions, and teaching you more advanced knowledge.
We have a lesson syllabus that follows along with Rod Machado's online ground school, so that is our currently recommended option. Click here to view details and purchase the private pilot course to get started!

Sporty's is also a good option.
STEP 05
RECOMMENDED PILOT GEAR
You don't have to rush out and buy all of your gear right now. You can wait and discuss with your instructor, who can offer additional insight and hands on experience.
With that being said, here is a list of gear that you can start researching. Sporty's and Amazon are two good resources for researching and shopping.

STEP 06
RENTER'S INSURANCE
Skybound has a commercial insurance policy, but it may not cover damages you cause. If you damage a plane, you could be on the hook for the cost of repairs, property damage, loss of use, and more. For example, you could accidentally bump the wing of another plane on the ramp, and the owner of that plane sue you for the cost to repair the damages and their loss of use of the plane.

That's when renter's insurance steps in and would have you covered! We require a minimum of $30,000 in physical damage coverage. We've partnered with Fortitude Insurance who can provide that level of coverage for less than $500 per year!
